In the first football championship of independent Serbia, played in the 2006/07 season, they became champions. Crvena zvezda . Our club won the trophy at the stadium of neighboring Partizan, after the third victory that coach Boško Djurovski recorded over the black and whites in less than two months. With the 26th championship crown in a row, and at the same time the first in history in the Serbian championship, Crvena zvezda ended the 130th championship eternal derby in the most beautiful way.

Above all, 13,000 spectators at the stadium in Humska Street (Partizan's most ardent fans boycotted the match), the home team's scorer was Rukavina in the 50th minute, and the goals for Crvena zvezda were scored by Burzanović in the 19th and Milijaš in the 66th from a penalty kick.
- It's nice to be a Crvena zvezda fan and champion of Serbia. Partizan had its chances, and this is a team with a future ahead of them. They play good football, but if you beat a team three times in a month, you have arguments on your side - said Boško Djurovski.

The red and whites' championship celebration was all the greater, given the problems the club's management, coaching staff and players faced after coach Dušan Bajević's sudden, abrupt and unprecedented departure from the team in the middle of a match against Vojvodina at Marakana, when fans dissatisfied with the poor result demanded his departure. To everyone's surprise, Bajević immediately left and never returned. His assistant Boško Djurovski took over the team.
Crvena zvezda supporters, especially the most ardent ones - Delije, have sewn the 26th championship star to a particularly dear place, because the title was not only won overwhelmingly, but in the spring of 2007 the dream of becoming the first Serbian champion was also realized, which was also extremely important for Zvezda, as one of the symbols of Serbianness. The title was practically won at dusk on May 5, before St. George's Day, and it smelled like lilies of the valley!
The 2006/07 season also saw the tenth anniversary double crown. Zvezda won the national championship trophy three rounds before the end of the championship, with 74 points (23 wins, five draws and four losses), with a goal difference of 55:27.
