Our Kup Srbije Round of 32 match against FK Trepča was supposed to be played today in Kosovska Mitrovica at 14.00 hours, but our team bus wasn’t allowed to travel to Kosovo i Metohija.
Club Director Zvezdan Terzić was bitterly disappointed with this decision and has stated that the authorities in Priština have blocked a sporting event from taking place for no real reason.
“We have come to play football and only to play football. We didn’t come to deal in politics, but to play a football match. But the authorities decided not to take advice from FIFA and prevent this game from going ahead in Kosovska Mitrovica. We are sorry and disappointed. The match will now have to be re-arranged, probably for tomorrow.”
Director Terzić noted that the authorities of the so-called state of Kosovo showed that they are all about lies and manipulations.
“They based their admission to UEFA and FIFA on their desire to separate football from politics. But today they showed that football is not what they are about. FIFA saw no problem with this match being played in Kosovska Mitrovica as it’s where FK Trepča normally play their home fixtures, so we didn’t ask for any kind of special treatment. Despite all this, the pro-Albanian media in Kosovo have been reporting that FK Crvena zvezda are trying to do something against the decisions of UEFA and FIFA. It’s not true, but it has been reported for days now.”
Zvezdan Terzić thanked the fans who came to the administrative border crossing of Jarinje to greet the team.
“I’m proud of our fans who showed yet again how much they care about the club. We are a Serbian club and wherever there are Serbian people – there are Zvezda fans. I thank them on behalf of everyone at the club. We didn’t get to play today, but we feel that we achieved a win in diplomacy.”
