We're delighted to announce the signing of experienced Spanish midfielder José Alberto Cañas on a two-year contract.
The addition of the Spaniard should provide Head Coach Vladan Milojević with more options in midfield and boost quality as well as experience of the squad ahead of the new season.
Having played in his native Spain, but also in England and Greece, José embarks on a new adventure by signing for the champions of Serbia.
Canas was born near Cadiz in the south of Spain and has started his youth career with Real Betis, for whom he’d also made his senior debut in 2009. After four seasons with Los Verdiblancos je joined Swansea City and played in the Premier League and in UEFA Europa League. In 2014 he was back in Spain with RCD Espanyol where he spent two seasons before joining P.A.O.K. in Greece.
José Alberto Cañas is set to join Crvena zvezda on 1st July when his P.A.O.K. contract is officially expired. However, the Greek club may yet allow the Spaniard to start training with his new team before the end of June.
Welcome to Serbia, José!
