Vladan Milojević is no longer our Head Coach. He bid his farewell to the club, media and our supporters at an emotional presser at Rajko Mitić Stadium on Thursday.
Vladan took time to thank his family, everyone at the club and everyone involved with Crvena zvezda for the past two and a half years.
“I’ve made up my mind before the Čukarički match. It was always my intention to give enough time to whoever comes after me to prepare for European football. I’ve done all I could to set the team on course to another Superliga title and I’m all but certain we’ll go on to win it. I wouldn’t want the next Head Coach to come in and have mere weeks before the big challenges arrive. This way, next boss will have months to get to know the players and the way things work here.”
Vladan Milojević came in at a different moment for the club and over-performed on the European stage, qualifying for the Europa League and, rather remarkably, for two Champions League campaigns in a row.
“I’m proud that we put Zvezda back on the map. Also, we’ve given some of our younger fans the chance to get the feel of what it was like being a Zvezda supporter back in our glory days. We got some good results and it’s been a blast. But life goes on and I hope the club will continue to progress, because it’s all about the club and not the individuals who represent it.”
Our Miloje still doesn’t know what comes next in his career.
“I’m exhausted, to be honest. It’s non-stop. I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family. I don’t know if I’ll get offers from other clubs, so in the meantime I’d like to learn more, visit some other coaches and try to improve as a coach. Nothing is ever certain in football, so you have to be prepared for everything.”
Club Director Zvezdan Terzić, Director of Football Mitar Mrkela and legendary Dragan Džajić all thanked Vladan Milojević for his fantastic contribution to the club’s fortunes in the past two and a half years, and present journalists and media people gave Miloje a magnificent round of applause.
Thank you, Vladan and good luck!
