Crvena zvezda made it a perfect return from the international break, but it wasn't a straightforward match for the red and whites.
Mačva took the lead on 15 minutes after a nice move that left our defenders bewildered. Petar Gigić kept his composure and beat Milan Borjan, our captain for the day.
Vladan Milojević's side never gave up and never changed the game plan - keeping the ball an patiently probing to find an opening.
The goal finally came on 37 minutes when Boakye pounced on a chest-down from Čaušić and hammered home from the centre of the area.
The second half was largely spent on Mačva's half with the visitors defending with their lives in a bid to rescue a point.
But their hopes were dashed 15 minutes from time as a foul on Boakye gave Ben a golden chance to give his team the lead from the spot. The Comorian kept his cool and dispatched the penalty beyond Puletić.
The hard-fought points were more than welcome after second-placed Radnički also won earlier in the day to keep the pressure on the champions.
We'll have another Superliga match as early as Wednesday when we make the trip to Bačka.
