With great sadness and sorrow we inform you that the legendary Dragoslav “Šeki” Šekularac has passed away on 5th January 2019, aged 81.
A man who marked an era of our club, but also made a mark on the game worldwide will remain one of the most significant people in the history of our club.
Šekularac was born in Štip on 8th November 1937 and he made his Crvena zvezda debut in 1955 as a youngster. His skill made him an instant hit with the fans who flocked to see this all-action forward.
In his 11 years with the club, Šeki made 375 appearances and scored 119 goals, winning five titles and three cups in the process. He was successful as our Head Coach as well, winning the league and cup double in the 1989/90 season.
He was a Yugoslavia international too as he made scored six goals in 41 games.
Everyone at FK Crvena zvezda will cherish the memories of this great man and a fantastic player. Rest in peace, Šeki.
