Crvena zvezda can confirm that striker Aleksandar Pešić has now joined Al-Ittihad Club in Saudi Arabia.
Aleksandar spent a season at Rajko Mitić Stadium after joining from Toulouse FC last summer. He was our top scorer in 2017/18 campaign with an impressive tally of 29 goals in all competitions.
Pešić didn’t travel to Riga for our Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier at Spartaks Jurmala as he was given permission to to travel to Saudi Arabia and complete the transfer.
Speaking to Zvezda TV, Pešić thanked everyone at the club for a great year.
"I will miss all the great people here. I enjoyed my time at Zvezda, but such is professional football. I'm going to be playing for a club where everyone is really passionate about football. I'm sure I've made the right decision. I'd like to thank fans for everything and I hope that they will keep supporting the team. Thank you all!"
Al-Ittihad Club Saudi Arabia, or simply The Union, is the best-supported club in Saudi Arabia. They finished ninth in the Saudi Professional League last season. Managed by former Argentina international Ramón Ángel Díaz, The Union play their home matches at 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Sport City Stadium.
We thank Aleksandar Pešić for an exceptional season and wish him and his new club all the success in the future.
