El Fardou Ben Nabouhane has had some niggling injuries lately, so he hasn't featured in the first team as much as he would have liked it, but he's slowly becoming one of most influential attacking players for the club. His goal away at Mačva won't be the last he's scored this season.
„It means a lot to me that I'm finally fit and back. The team needs goals and I'm happy to deliver. I hope there is a lot more to come. We've got some important matches coming up so we all need to be sharp. We all work hard and I have no doubt that we'll do well in the Superliga Play-off.“
Comorian forward paid a tribute to Aleksandar Pešić for a fine headed assist.
“He did great. He spotted me to his right and reacted quickly to get the ball to me. Credit to Aleksandar. We were aware that Mačva players don’t defend that area and we took full advantage and pretty much secured the points with that second goal.”
The win in Šabac means Crvena zvezda remain 12 points cleat at the top of Superliga standings.
“We knew it was going to be difficult. They knocked us out of the Cup just a few days earlier and we knew they would be up for another battle. It was very intense, but we showed great desire and deserved the points.”
There is 12 days left until our next game with international break coming up.
“We play Mladost in Lučani on Saturday, 31 March. Thankfully, we will have some time to recover after a few hectic weeks. All the boys will spend a bit more time with their families so hopefully our batteries will be recharged when we return. We’ve got big games to play until the end of the season and we want to win the title and celebrate with our fans.”
