Brazilian winger Ricardo Cavalcante Mendes, commonly known as Ricardinho, joined Crvena zvezda on a 2+1 year deal last week. He was presented to the press at Rajko Mitić Stadium on Friday.
Director of Football Mitar Mrkela spoke about the little Brazilian.
“I'm pleased to present Ricardinho who is joining us from Moldova's Sheriff Tiraspol. He is the kind of player who will excite the fans here. He can score, he's creative and great at creating chances for his team-mates. Players like him are always in demand. He's 27 years old and I'm confident that he'll do well here.”
Zvezda's new number 89 knows a lot about the club he joined.
“I heard many nice things about this place. Mendes Cadu played with me at Sheriff and he was always full of praise for this club. I know Crvena zvezda players are always expected to win and I'm ready for that kind of pressure. Personally I've had a great last season in Moldova and I believe I'm ready for another. That said, the most important thing is that Crvena zvezda wins and I'm happy to do my part to enable that.”
Besides Cadu, Ricardinho has also shared the dressing room with defender Vujadin Savić.
“Vujadin and myself are good friends and I'd love to play with him again. He told me everything about Belgrade and I'm sure I will love it here.”
The Brazilian's main position is left wing, but he can also play on the opposite flank, as well as upfront.
Welcome to Crvena zvezda, Ricardinho!
