It was an entertaining match, especially in the first half. The only goal, however, was a straightforward one by Plavšić. The little winger ran with the ball evading defenders and placed a low shot from the edge of the box. Not even inspired Rad goalkeeper Mirković could get to it and Zvezda were 1-0 up.
Stefan Milošević replaced the injured Nemanja Milić and slotted in at his natural left back position with Mihailo Ristić moving to midfield. And that shift suited Ristić who beat Mirković from just inside the box with a clever near-post effort on 65 minutes.
That second goal was crucial and Rad never looked like returning into the match despite creating a few decent chances in the early stages.
Srđan Plavšić got his second goal on 70 minutes after Richmond Boakye’s initial saved shot. And there was a rare goal for Marko Petković just three minutes later to seal a convincing win.
