Last Saturday's Novi Pazar clash was the first competitive match for the players who arrived during the winter break. Crvena zvezda fans have got the opportunity to see Abraham Frimpong in action.
And Ghanaian defender enjoyed playing in front the crowd of 15,750.
„It felt great out there. I'm happy with our first match at Rajko Mitić Stadium. Atmosphere-wise, this was very different to most games I played in Serbia before. I was thrilled to see that many fans backing us.“
Our new centre-back was solid at the back.
“While I was waiting to walk out of the tunnel, I must admit that I felt a bit of pressure and thinking that it might be difficult. But as soon as the match kicked off it was fine as I focused only on the game. I know the fans expect only the best and I believe that I did enough to prove I deserve my place on the team. Novi Pazar haven’t had a shot at goal all game, so our defence must have done well. We pressed them for ninety minutes and didn’t give them enough space to attack us.”
Aleksandar Luković and Abraham Frimpong already look like a decent partnership at the centre of defence.
“Captain Luković has been so helpful ever since I arrived to the club. He is such an experienced player and I try to get as much advice from him as possible. It’s reassuring to know that he’s got my back and we’ve established a good understanding already.”
Next up for Crvena zvezda Belgrade is a trip to FK Bačka.
“We will try to approach that match just like we’ve did the one last Saturday. The coaching staff has been great and they’ve given us all the information we need to prepare and get a result. We will certainly go there looking to win.”
