Over the course of his career, he won a total of seven trophies and also represented the German national team, earning 16 caps and participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
As a child, Marko Marin moved to Germany with his parents at the age of two, where he spent his childhood and took his first steps in football at a local club near Frankfurt. While still a boy, he became a member of Eintracht Frankfurt's academy. During that time, players in Eintracht's youngest age groups were not required to train in official club gear, so Marin wore the jersey of his beloved Zvezda. This early exposure instilled in him a love for the red-and-whites of Belgrade.
Recognized as one of the most talented youngsters, he soon joined Borussia Monchengladbach's youth system and signed his first professional contract in 2006. In the same season, he debuted for the first team and became one of the brightest young talents in world football. He quickly became a key player in the squad and helped the club to promotion with outstanding performances. In June 2009, he joined Werder Bremen, and after three seasons as one of the best players in the Bundesliga, he joined Chelsea.
Marko Marin also wore the jerseys of Sevilla, Fiorentina, Anderlecht, Trabzonspor, and Olympiacos, consistently showcasing his skills in various leagues. He added two UEFA Europa League trophies to his impressive career,
winning them in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons with Chelsea and Sevilla, respectively. His international career was also successful, as he won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with the German national team.
In late August 2018, he finally signed for his beloved Crvena zvezda, with whom he won two Superliga crowns and made history. He played in the UEFA Champions League twice with Zvezda and delivered assists for both goals as we famously beat Liverpool 2-0 at Marakana. In his first season in 2018/19, he was named the best player in the Serbian Superliga. The following season, he wore the number ten shirt and captained the side in another UCL adventure. He played 58 matches for Zvezda, scoring 11 goals and providing 24 assists.
On the pitch, he symbolized a true leader and a player with silky technique, often earning chants and cheers from the fans. In January 2020, he moved to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and played for Al-Raed in the same league. He concluded his professional football career with Hungarian club Ferencvaros. After 15 years of professional playing, he transitioned into the role of Technical Director at Rajko Mitić Stadium. He brought dedication, experience, commitment, and ambition to the club's leadership.
