Crvena zvezda won the seventh National Champion title and the second Cup Double in 1964. Red Star’s second star, Dragoslav Šekularac, only played a few games due to compulsory military service, and the lead in the field was taken on successfully by Vojislav Melić, while the main players were basically Dragan Džajić and Živorad Jevtić. That’s when with Red Star’s third star, Dragan Džajić, the Red Star’s dominance in the Yugoslavian football practically starts.
Crvena zvezda's main opponent was the city rival OFK Beograd, whose team came to a barely two-point difference in the penultimate round, after Crvena zvezda drew in Novi Sad in a match with Vojvodina and OFK Beograd defeated Radnički 3:1. Although the goal difference was in favor of the red and white team, Crvena zvezda won the National Championship title in a victorious way, by defeating Željezničar 3:1, while OFK Beograd drew in a difficult match against Vojvodina in Novi Sad (3:3) In the end of the championship Crvena zvezda was three points ahead of OFK Beograd and Dinamo from Zagreb.
In 1964, Crvena zvezda said good-bye to an extraordinary and extremely successful coach Miša Pavić, who led our team into gaining three Champion titles and three National Cups.
- What adorned us as a generation are the same things that the first Crvena zvezda generation had: love for the club, responsibility towards our fans and the professional concept as introduced by doctor Aca Obradović: the day after the game, each coach starting with the first team leader to the pioneer coach was required to present their analysis of the game with suggestions on how to correct the weaknesses of our team. I can assure you that I have learned the coaching skills in such expert coaching sessions. – declared the affirmed coach Miša Pavić.
